Pottery and paintings, jewelry, quilts and weavings, glasswork, sculpture, photography, decoys, and woodwork are just some of the lovely things you'll find. The price range is broad, and there'll surely be something that begs to go home with you.

Several small galleries await your discovery among the winding waterfront streets of Camden, while others welcome you along Route 1 and by the side of many country roads. In addition, on the third weekend in July and the first weekend in October, a host of festive tents sprouts by the edge of Camden's picturesque harbor to shelter a dazzling selection of wares in the biannual juried arts-and-crafts shows.

Throughout the year, a group of nearly two dozen area artists and artisans offers a tour brochure (available from the Chamber office) with listings and a map to point the way to their studios. They invite you not only to view and purchase their art, but also to talk with them about it and perhaps even watch as they work.

If top-drawer handcrafted furniture is what you seek, you'll want to stop at the studios of several artisans as well as the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in West Rockport, where works by students, instructors, and some of the country’s finest makers are displayed and offered for sale. In the center of Rockport Village, The Center for Maine Contemporary Art mounts stunning showings of paintings and other work by today's established and emerging artists who live or create their art in Maine. There is also a fine gallery shop here.

At The Farnsworth Art Museum and Wyeth Center in nearby Rockland, impressive works by American masters are highlighted by a collection of paintings by three generations of the Wyeth family as well as pieces by other outstanding Maine artists.
